Its Mother's day here.
6-8 weeks before the rest of the world does it but we do it in March.
The Old Dear (OD) was chuffed with her card, especially as it had not just my name but 3 cats (mine), 1 budgie and 1 dog (hers) on it. She'd got her pressie a couple of weeks ago during the really bad cold-snap we had, and apprecieated it too ( a vintage woollen ski hat circa 1944 from eBay, same style as she'd have worn when she was a wean during WW2).
Me, her and the dug went a wee run, first to Dobbies - thats the Garden Centre chain by the way, not where the House elf lives, the one at Stirling. Loads of beautiful plants, but we did all our spending in the wee deli that they have. The toffee cheesecake is gorgeous, and as for the olives, cheese selection, oaties etc....Fat Bastard Heaven!
Next stop after that was Callendar, park in the Meadows next to the wall so we're literally 10-15 feet from the river Teith with a great view of the ducks, swans. The path we usually take was really muddy but we found the path to Strathayre and had a good walk along that, less muddy as its raised, loads of sticks for the dug to try and carry then a single fish and a fish supper out the Happy Fryer - the OD thinks restaurants are a waste of money - she was quite chuffed not to have to cook and quite enjoyed her wee day out.
In all the times I've been to Callendar, today was the first time I've really noticed the peat-reak.
And it had nothing to do with all the folk in the pubs/bistros etc both staff and clients who were having to step outside to smoke because of the new legislation coming into effect today.
Might start going back to the Bingo again - got fed up having to strip off as soon as I'd got home and shower/wash hair to get rid of the smell of fags!
Bugger that...
