T in the Park...

... one week today, I'll be up at Balado with my wee tent and my blow up matress, lavvy roll and wet wipes.
They are putting on a free cinema from 10pm to 1am on the Friday, Sat and Sunday - bet they show the fuckin final of the world cup on the Sunday.
Still trying to sell the tickets on eBay - someone from work was a bit pissed I couldnt sell to her direct, but hopefully I'll get more on ebay -Hell, I'm as mercenary as the next bastard, I'm not a fuckin charity.

Bring it on....

A good friend...

...has had a setback in her health.
3rd major op. for cancer in about as many years and she's still so positive, if anyone deserves to recover, its her.
I dont know exactly what the long term prospects are, its over 20 years since I've worked in general nursing and the treatments are so much better and less pernicious than they used to be so I hope to Christ things go OK.
Best wishes and prayers Kiddo - to you and yours, so that things go well.

No well...

...a few days ago. Thank you Asda and your own make soups - thought it was a mislabelled potatoe & leek cos it smelled a bit cheesy . Since it was on the shelf next to the Stilton & broccoli, thought I'd picked up the wrong one until about 2 hrs after I'd ate the fucking thing - giant leaden weight in my guts which just got heavier and more nauseating.
Now I know what a wean with NEC feels like.
If it had gone on to D&V it wouldn't have lasted so long or felt so bad, a burny ring isnt as bad as thinking that your gut is going to perforate with trapped gas. Probably sent the work into a meltdown as they were already shortstaffed before I took ill.
Came back yesterday, still badly dehydrated through not drinking the day before but better and by the end of the shift felt better than I have for yonks - some fuckin' detox eh?

Still going...

...to the gym.
Havnt dropped any pounds, thought the scales looked as if I was gaining.
Suppose muscle weighs more than fat.
Still, the shape does seem to be changing slightly - and I dont mean looking like a fuckin' Russian shot putter either!

T in the Park...

...tickets came through last week.
4 of them.
Pity B & D forgot and booked holidays in America at the same time, so... thought I'd flog the spares on eBay.
Theres a Bidway round the corner from me so went in and a very nice lady looked up what tickets were currently going for and reckoned at £750 for three. I thought they'd go better as a 2 and a single, however, what do I know.
A couple of days later, they phoned to say that someone from Coatbridge had phoned offering £700* cash in hand, however he cant appear there till this Monday so they've taken my tickets off line till then to see how it goes - except when I checked prices last night, the value seems to be dropping - apparently they do that nearer to the event - and if your on eBay at the right time you could pick up camping weekend tickets for £20 each.
Fuck that!
* even with Bidways commission, I'd still be over £640 quid in pocket.

So, this bugger can put my tickets on hold as it were, might not buy them at all as a) He could buy them off someone else cheaper in the meantime therefore doesnt need mine or b) He could be selling tickets himself and by getting mine taken off the auction, improve the chances of his being taken up.

Bugger that...

Bloody Eagles...

...concert at Hampden last night, the cops would have started lifting local cars during the afternoon so there was no point event trying to get home after work last night so went down to the van to sleep.
Went to Balbir's on the road down for a curry-oot. (Salmon achari, boiled rice and nan) and stuffed my face - still had to chuck half of it out, Christ, they really give you your moneys worth, watched the telly and went to my kip.

Got wakened up at 2 in the morning by the alarm clock that wouldn't go off when I was checking it through the week.

Still managed to get back to my kip though. . . . pity any poor sods disturbed by it at 2am and 2pm since Thursday.

Snigger.

Flaming June...

...my arse.
The rains been pissing down, the clouds are dull as Hell, especially when I've been on days off.
Spent most of ithem hoovering up mouse-shit. (Anyone want to buy a second-hand Hoover?).
Or the rainiest day yet - driving up and down the back roads of Stirlingshire looking for Carbeth with the old-dear and the dug in the motor.

Granda had been one of the original Hutters in the 30's and had a hut at Carbeth right up until he died in @1973/4. (He burnt to death when the hut burnt down), and the old dear had spent a large part of her childhood there but hadn't actually been out there for 50 yrs.
Some lovely huts there, some only held together by their paint jobs. All under threat from the land owners wanting to hike up the ground rents. Understandable really given what caravan site ground fees can be.
Needless to say, 'cos of the pissing rain no-one was out and about - just us.
Thank fuck for the Carbeth Inn, 2 soups, coffee for me and a wee whisky for the old dear in memory of her Da.
The dug got a chewstick.
Bugger.

Here's to a nice weekend...

...the weather forecasts looking good for this weekend, dont think it'll be as good as last week, but I can still hope.
Hope to get the last bits of the van cleaned out and ready for moving back in properly over this week, with a day off for me and D to take wee maw and the dug to Carbeth - she used to spend her summers as a wean in a hut there that my granda had, D's family had a hut there in the 70's round about the time granda's hut burned down (with him in it).

Heres hoping for a good few days.

At the Gym...

...been to the gym a couple of times now.
Still a fat bastard, but a slightly fitter one now.
Love going on the treadmill. Not that I like doing the hamster-in -a-wheel bit, just that theres this wee gang of neds, about 4 or 5 of them who sit on the wall outside the fitness centre with a load of plastic bottles filled with water/pish and lob them at any open-top sporty cars that pass yelling "Ya f****in' poof!!", even if the drivers a woman.

Keeps me amused anyway.

Summer nights...

...and working night shifts. I dont know which is worse, night shifts in the summer where the evenings are gorgeous and you have to go out to work, cant take a wee drink or get too involved in anything so youre not late for work. The mornings get light so early too, by the time its quite bright, it seems to take forever till the end of the shift.
Night shifts in the winter? - you come in in the dark and go home in the dark - unless you deliberately get up in the middle of the day, you dont even see daylight. No wonder I get a kind of depression during the winter months.

PROS FOR NIGHTS.
Unsocial hours money.
Dont have ward rounds.
Dont have to keep answering the phones or the door entry system.
Dont have all the visitors all shift, just at the start of it.

CONS FOR NIGHTS.
No social life.
Difficult to get a sleep sometimes during the day - amazing how many people think working nights means you sleep during the shift, the concept of "work" and "nighttime" just dont seem to register.
Wind - try picking up a few messages after a night shift - guaranteed to clear any supermarket aisle.

This pair of old geriatrics...

...met up at the Derby and Joan Club, had a couple of drinks and got on so well together, they decided to go to her house to get to know each other a bit better.
After spending the night together, he wakes up in the morning and thinking of what they'd got up to thought "Jeezo, if I'd known she was a virgin.... I'd have taken my time",
She's lying beside him thinking "Jeezo, if I'd known he was so good... I'd have taken my tights off!".

Bloody cats...

...why is it when they fall asleep on the bed alongside you, every time you move you either blooter one right of the end of the bed, accidently hit it (sorry Yogi, didn't mean to slap you on the head) or give them such a fright they dive off yowling - Fuck knows what the neighbours think I'm up too.

Neighbours - "Ground Force" has hauled out all the Virginia Creeper that I planted some years back, he thinks 'cos he's bought the green wellies, he knows what he's about as a gardener.
Shame he hasn't a fuckin' clue.
Now the creeper's away, I have to look out at a boring gray wall from the back bedroom, I rather liked the fresh green look of the plant plus the delicate drifts of flowers - looked like white froth.

Silly bastard - Ground Force that is, keeps cutting down the lilac just as its about to flower.
Daft tw@ doesn't realise you're only supposed to prune them AFTER they've finished flowering.
Bugger...

Another SaturdayNight/Sunday Morning...

...on the night shift.
Seems to have been a really warm day yesterday, but I wouldnt know as I managed to sleep right through it. Not bright sunshine but hazy ......never mind that though, who gives a toss about kipping/working through the best week-end (weatherwise) this year because - THE T-IN-THE -PARK-TICKETS came through the post.
4 of them.

Pity B & D forgot the dates and arranged to go to the States for their holibags - I'm bloody going to T and I'll flog their tickets on eBay.

Also got the voucher through from the Falconry Centre so when "I" gets in touch to arrange a day to go, I'll be offski faster than a Peregrin falcon after a pigeon.

Kes ya Bass!

Burny burny...

...Hot the last few days, supposed to be even hotter tomorrow, in the 30's!
Phoned wee maw to make sure she's OK, tends to have TIA's when the weathers too warm so she's been warned not to go out and stay in the shade. It'll be too hot for the dog too, she'll just lie and pant - sensible animal.
Poor B - His blood pressures up, his works doing its biannual You-may-be-made-redundant-cos-we've-got-too-many-staff bit, helluva pressure to work under and D is pissed of with his bosses using his store as a cash-cow for their own personal use.
This place has been busy too - at a study day the other day, a good one, its nice when you've got a speaker who knows their subject backwards and is enthusiastic about it.
Cruella was at it too, still a PITA, think we only exchanged @ 10 words to each other. (10 words too many). See these tw@s with the kind of faces you wouldnt get tired of kicking?
Not that I'm violent or anything.

Blame it on the heat.

Been at the Gym - once for an induction, 3 of us so we were just on every third machine, knackered at the end of an hour.
Went back 2 nights later, went on quite a few of them, bumped into Wee Stevie who'd taken us round, dead nice wee guy, surprised myself by how much I managed to do - AND I WANT TO GO BACK - Fuxake, I'll drop a few pounds yet eh!

Summer...?

1st June already, still havn't finished cleaning out the van- 2 bedrooms to go, then I can move the cats down and get started on the house - hopefully get it ready to sell.
Aye right!
Was out at Dobbies, Stirling yesterday, then went to Aberfoyle then Callendar before taking the wee Barra and the dug home. Really wouldnt mind living in any of those places, especially Callendar - but then I would want somewhere near the river and it does have a tendency to flood in the winter so .... maybe no.
Definetley in the country, up a hill, middle-of-nowhere kind of place, where the cats would be safe and the dug could run round like a maddy and bark away and we wouldn't need to worry about annoying the neighbours.

Dont bloody want much do I?
